Shopper Zero, in facts

Last updated Oct 29, 2026. Plain text for AI tools: shopperzero.com/llms.txt

A mystery shopper for AI assistants: an AI shopper asks a US Shopify store what buyers ask and tries to buy, on the routes assistants use, and shows the owner where the sale was lost.

What it is

  • Shopper Zero tests whether AI shopping assistants can buy from an online store. It starts with Shopify stores that sell to US customers.
  • The owner gives only the store’s web address. Nothing is installed in the store.
  • An AI shopper runs ten shopping tasks written from the store’s own products, each one twice, in a real web browser, as a first-time guest.
  • Every step is recorded as a screenshot, so the owner can replay exactly where a sale was lost.
  • The report ranks the fixes by how many tasks each one stopped, with wording a developer can act on.
  • Four buyer’s questions (delivery time and cost, returns, how to contact the store, the first-order discount) are asked on seven routes an assistant uses: the product page, the home page, the policy page, the FAQ pages, the product data search engines read, and the store’s own agent connection, plainly and by policy name.
  • A Black Friday pre-flight checks that the routes made for AI agents are open, that robots.txt doesn’t shut assistants out, and what to check in the Shopify admin before a site freeze.
  • The AI shopper stands in for consumer assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity; it is not one of them.
  • A person reads every report before it is sent, so Shopper Zero takes up to 20 tests a day.

What the shopper never does

  • Pays, or types into a card or password field. Every trip stops the moment it reaches the checkout.
  • Signs in or creates an account.
  • Types a name, email address or phone number, sends a form, signs up for emails or confirms a booking.
  • Gets around a bot check, CAPTCHA or block. If it is turned away, it stops and the report says so.
  • Leaves the store for other websites.
  • Tests a store whose owner has not booked it, except for the public, read-only Agent Shopping Index, which visits public pages only and names no store.

Limits

  • Shopify stores selling to US customers first. Other platforms are read for the buyer’s questions but not yet sold to.
  • The shopper does not use WebMCP or UCP to buy; it walks the store’s pages the way a browsing assistant does, and reads the agent routes without buying through them.
  • Results are not a score out of 100. They are tasks completed, lost, or not counted.
  • Screenshots are deleted 90 days after each report.
  • Launched in October 2026; no public reviews yet.
